What is it?

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a credential issued in collaboration with an institution and awarded to anyone who has met the criteria.

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is meant to allow people to showcase their language skills regardless of educational background and nationality. It also recognizes the value of differing levels of fluency by issuing certificates at three different levels.

Why get it?

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a serial-numbered certificate and, as such, can be listed as a credential (not just an award) on a CV or LinkedIn digital profile.

Language skills will be important no matter your chosen path in life. Awardees of the Global Seal of Biliteracy use the seal's uniform standard to show that they will be a valuable asset in today's global economy. In particular, employers looking to hire proficient speakers or educators looking to place students appropriately have used the certificate to quickly and properly make correct decisions.

Because of this, getting the Global Seal of Biliteracy is especially helpful to students as they prepare to leave the University.

How to get it?

Proficiency is generally demonstrated by completion of one of many accepted proficiency tests. More information on qualified tests and requirements is available here.

The CLCL provides support for Avant Assessment testing services as their tests are widely accepted and relatively inexpensive. The test can be taken online (proctored by Avant Assessment for $39.90) or in-person (proctored by the CLCL for $24.90).

For in-person CLCL proctoring, follow these two steps:

  1. Click the first button below to fill out a form with preferred proctoring times.
  2. Purchase the in-person testing option by clicking the second button below.

For online proctoring, you can skip the first step.
