Biography

Andy has an M.A. in Linguistics with a focus on teaching English as a second language from the University of Iowa. His professional interests include language instruction, the promotion of inclusive learning environments, and instructional technology and design. He has studied Russian, French, Italian, and German in the classroom and enjoys working with faculty and students in the division to aid, promote, and enhance the learning of languages.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • manages scheduling of CLCL spaces
  • trains faculty and TAs on the CALL Lab (PH 17)
  • manages CLCL communication (i.e., newsletter, CLCL and departmental websites)
  • provides support to American Sign Language (ASL), English as a Second Language (ESL), Translation, and Linguistics

General Responsibilities

  • designs and develops instructional materials, evaluating the effectiveness of strategies/pedagogical approaches
  • consults and collaborates with faculty/staff on projects, events, and other pertinent issues
  • administers and manages ICON
  • manages instructional support facilities, assuring facilities are in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • advises Director on budgetary needs to discrepancies
