Malina Paley (she/her)

"I think taking a language like ASL has changed my perspective on communication as a whole. As a Speech and Hearing Science major, it changed how I talk about language and how I conduct myself in conversation surrounding speech and language differences."

"Studying languages and cultures is a big part of how we learn about the world and connect with others. In the process of learning about others, we in turn learn about ourselves and widen our horizons and grow as people along the way."

"I hope to use my ASL skills and knowledge of the Deaf community through my practice as a Physician Assistant. My goal is to help bridge the communication barrier between the Deaf community and the hearing community in the medical setting, where interactions can be stressful and frustrating."
